Metabolic Support Infusion

The Metabolic Support Infusion at Integra Essenza contains amino acids including L-carnitine and methionine with B-complex vitamins in a balanced fluid base. It is offered only alongside a nutrition and activity plan and is not a weight loss treatment. Composition is set by a physician after assessment. ₱3,500 per session, administered in-clinic.

What this is

This infusion contains amino acids, principally L-carnitine and methionine, with B-complex vitamins in a balanced fluid base. Those compounds are involved in normal fat and energy metabolism, which is biochemistry and true regardless of what happens to anyone’s weight.

What doesn’t follow from it, and what’s claimed constantly in this category, is that an infusion causes weight loss. It doesn’t. What changes body composition is sustained change in what you eat and how you move, over months, and there’s no infusion that shortcuts it.

So this comes with a condition. We offer it only as part of a program that includes a nutrition and activity plan with review points. If you’d rather have the infusion without the rest, this isn’t the right service, and we’d say so at assessment.

If you’re being managed for a metabolic condition by another doctor, their plan governs and we coordinate with it.

What the session involves

1. Assessment. Consultation, current labs, medication and supplement list, and a conversation about what you’ve already tried and how it went.

2. A plan, not just a drip. Nutrition and activity guidance with defined review points, plus a decision on whether infusion has any place in it.

3. Sessions, if indicated. About 45 minutes in-clinic, physician-supervised.

4. Review. Progress reviewed against the plan at set intervals. If the plan isn’t working, we change the plan rather than adding sessions.

Who we’d typically consider this for

    • Adults already committed to a nutrition and activity change who want physician oversight alongside it.
    • People whose assessment identifies a micronutrient gap relevant to this formulation.
    • Patients being managed for a metabolic condition elsewhere, where the treating physician has been consulted.
    • Adults who’ve been through several commercial weight programs and want a straight answer about what an infusion can and can’t do.

Who this isn’t for

    • You want the infusion without the nutrition and activity plan. You’re looking for rapid or effortless change, which we don’t offer.
    • You have a history of disordered eating, or the assessment raises a concern about one, in which case a physician here will decline and refer.
    • You’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
    • You have a kidney or liver concern, unless your specialist has been consulted.
    • You’re under 18, in any circumstance, for this service.

Risks and what to expect

Reported effects with intravenous L-carnitine include nausea and, occasionally, a change in body odour. Methionine is dosed carefully and reviewed, particularly in anyone with a liver or kidney concern.

Otherwise: cannula-site irritation and occasional light-headedness. The assessment covers all of this before you decide.

Session detail

₱3,500 per session, about 45 minutes plus monitoring. Offered only as part of a program including nutrition and activity guidance, quoted in full at assessment. Assessment and lab work separate.

Where the evidence stands

L-carnitine’s role in fatty acid transport is well established. The evidence that supplementing it, intravenously or otherwise, produces meaningful body composition change in adults is weak, and the studies that exist are mostly small.

That’s why the infusion isn’t sold on its own here. The part of this program most likely to change your metabolic health is the plan and the review points.

Questions people ask

No. What changes body composition is sustained change in diet and activity.

Not as a standalone. The evidence for infused amino acids producing body composition change is weak, which is why we only offer this alongside a plan.

Nausea and occasionally a change in body odor are the reported ones with intravenous L-carnitine, along with cannula-site irritation.

Set at assessment against the plan and reviewed. Sometimes the answer is none.

That’s an assessment question, and we’d want to speak with the doctor managing it.
